Busy busy busy.

So among other things, we've been looking into getting Anthony in school. He really really wants to go. I think a lot of it is that he wants friends. He has the two friends next door, which is great. But he was trying to make friends with the neighborhood "group"....he came home telling me that some of the kids told him that he is weird and to stay away from them. He doesn't get that! It's just cruel. If I catch anyone saying anything mean to him again...they'll be getting a good yelling-at. Nobody is going to get away with being mean to my children. They'll be in for a lesson in good manners.

So anyway...there is a school here on base that he can spend part of the morning at--three hours in the morning. That's fine with me. It's only three hours. Long enough for him to play and meet some kids. The other thing we've been checking into is a charter
school off base. It looks like a great idea. It's free, they get one on one attention from the teachers, they can even do their work at home and then go to school once or twice a week to meet with teachers and take some classes if they want. I like the idea. Kevin is wanting him to go to school so he'll be socially attuned with other kids. I think he'll be just fine. There are so many extracurricular things that he can do.

I got up this morning and felt like I needed something other than cold cereal. I'm more of a warm cereal kind of girl, Cream of Rice. But we haven't been to the store
since last week...so.

Rather, I made these scones. They are yummy.

Chocolate Cherry Scones
--------------------------
5 tblsp butter
2 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tblsp baking powder
3/4 cup milk or cream
1/4 c chocolate chips
1/2 cup dried cherries, chopped coarsley

Blend the dry ingredients together. Add the butter, and mix until it becomes coarse. Add the milk/cream and mix until just coming together. Add chips and cherries. Mix 30 seconds. Pour onto work surface and knead until it comes together in a ball. If too wet add a tbl more four at a time. Let dough rest for ten minutes. Heat oven to 375 d. Flatten the ball of dough and roll out to 1 inch thick round, keeping sides intact and smoothing as you go. Cut pizza style into 8 pieces. Lay out on baking sheet. Brush with milk or egg wash and sprinkle top with sugar. Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

They are really good still warm. But they make a yummy afternoon snack as well. You could also replace the cherries & chocolate with raisins and lemon zest, or cranberries and orange zest. Yummy.
