Happy Belated Easter.

We had a lovely quiet Easter. We went to Mass, then lunch at Olive Garden. Napped a bit, ate some treats. Watched some tv. Then went to dinner at Outback and had lobster and mushroom covered steaks. Was tasty.

I was praying desperately all weekend for there to be some good news on the whole house thing. This morning they got the appraisal and approved it. Thank God! Now it should go into escrow. It would be great if we could get this all wrapped up this week (HAHA!) because Kevin is supposed to be leaving for Virginia on the 23rd for Mountain warfare training or some such business. I'd really rather not have to be stuck here until he gets back at the beginning of next month sometime. This is where I grab the kids and get down on bended knee and beg to good Lord to have a little mercy on us here.

As happy as I am for Kevin to be able to get to finally do all the things he's been dreaming of doing for so long...I really don't want to have to move into the house all alone. But I'm bracing myself for worst-case-scenarios, and the possibility of doing a lot by myself. I'm a strong, independent woman, right? I've done it before. I could do it again. Right.

On the fun side of things, I've been looking at lots of paint and furniture set ups and things like that. Trying to figure out how to arrange everything in the new house. It's shaped differently, so it should be interesting seeing how things go. I've been tempted to make some built-in book shelves in the living room, but I think I might be getting ahead of myself a little. This seller did super organizing of everything. He put in a butt load of new shelves in the kitchen, and on the inside he put all those little pull out racks, and organizing shelves. It's fabulous. He also did the same thing in all the closets. I'm sure it will drive Kevin insane since his idea of organization is more like a huge pile, where he knows, for example, that his desert camies are under his Aussie Jersey and next to last weeks dirty clothes. And the phone bill is in the jeans at the bottom of the pile. Not sure we'll ever break those habits, but at least we're equipped to do so!

Someday when I find my Nikon after we've cleaned out the storage unit I'll take some pictures of some of the neat things around here. I was suprised to see the trees that look so sad and forlorn with the moss hanging from all the branches. I came here knowing next to nothing about what it would look like and have been pleasantly suprised by lots of things I didn't know I would experience. The swamps are something else. It's also interesting to see all the water ways that weave in and out of the area, all salt water. Today I saw my very first cardinal! It was so bright! It's amazing seeing such brilliant colors out in nature. Out in California Dogwood trees are rare, and expensive. But here they grow wild, and are in full bloom right now. Wild wisteria hangs from the trees in bright purples. And the azaleas are really beautiful! All these things...they made a nice welcome for Easter.

And to close with a funny...

Anneliese is really getting into story-telling lately. Her latest "story" is to tell whoever will listen that her daddy thinks she was an ugly baby.
So not true! I don't know where she comes up with these things...

So good to see you blogging - you've been missed!
Have you thought about a "Power of Attorney" in case he is gone and Docs need signatures?
And there is no photo in the space where I think you intended one...
and we all know what an ugly kid she is/was! She's very passive aggressive.

You're really in N Carolina?! You are one tough lady to move to a new place and send your man off to war at the same time. I'm so grateful for people like you! If it was on my shoulders, our country would get overrun by anybody who wanted to take a shot at us. Love you, Celeste, and your in my prayers. By the way, I love the header-picture you put up. It's adorable!
