Children in your bed?

Yes, us too. We can't seem to get rid of them. They take up the blankets, the pillows, the space. We woke up yesterday morning to Anthony sleeping across the bottom of the bed under the covers. When and how he arrived there, we still don't know. We're aiming for an avoidance of future visits though. (Yes, go ahead and laugh.)

In an attempt to banish the youngest from the bed we gave in to a hideous example of
bribery...(As I mentioned to someone just recently we resorted to ice cream bribery while potty training. It seems there is a pattern going on here. Thankfully the child forgot all about the ice cream after about 4 days of trying to go potty in the big toilet.) We bought her a Dora bed.

I always swore that I wouldn't be one of those parents that buys their kids clothes and room accessories that are of some cartoon character or superhero. Now we have Dora making herself comfortable in the corner of our bedroom, and Spiderman, Mister America, and the Hulk taking over Anthony's bedroom. The good news is that Anthony spends most of the night in his bed. And Anneliese woke up halfway through the night screaming bloody murder. Why is that a good thing? Well, at least it was half way through the night and not 15 minutes after she went to sleep. We got a couple hours of good, uninterrupted rest. So...thank God for Dora. As annoying as she can be.

Our solution to not having kids in the bed... locks on the outside of their doors. It's for their own safety, actually. We don't need to have little ones turning on the stove or something. Good luck keeping them out, though! A little Dora or superheros never hurt anybody. If it makes the kids a little less, um, unruly I'm all for it!
