We're here! Or there-- Camp Pendleton, SoCal. Yay! So glad we're here. So glad it's over.
We drove 10 hours to get here on Tuesday and they didn't want to give us the house even though it was sitting here empty for a year. And we hadn't slept for like 30 hours. (At 36 hours I just started getting loopy and hyper. I slept really well last night though. didn't wake up once!) Kevin had until the 10th to check in, but they wouldn't give us the house unless he checked in. So he did, and that's why I am stuck trying to unload the truck. Some of it I just can't do, but I've gotten most of the boxes and small furniture out of it. We have great neighbors too. At least the ones that we've met so far. The house is great too. Big, spacious, newer, on a corner lot, nice big patio in back, big grass lawn in front, big garage.
It's very bizarre to me that I got really REALLY annoyed when Kevin came and dropped off
lunch and left to go back to work. He was here for like a second and I got pissed. It's strange because he was gone for 2 years and I was just fine. Missed him and did everything myself, but I was just fine. Now all of a sudden I get annoyed wife syndrome and want to strangle myself.
This morning Anthony was getting upset because Kevin wasn't home, and I told him that he had to go to work. To Anthony, Kevin going to work means going far away and not coming home for a long time. I had to get in his face and explain that he was 5 minutes away and that he'll be home in a couple of hours.
Anyway, we're doing well aside from that. Anthony made a friend across the street. He's super excited to have friends. And to be so close to a school and playground. We walked half a mile to the housing office just to explore along the way. It was fun! And he's super excited because then on the way home we saw some sort of animal that I had no seen before. It looked like a ferret or something. But it was really small, like 4-6 inches long. And it was living in the sewer drain. We'll have to figure out what it was.
Things I'm getting used to:
The sound of helo's going over at all times of the day and night.
The husband taking over the bed.
People dressed in uniform. I'm still civillianized I guess.
No tax at the grocery store. Or anywhere for that matter. California sucks with all it's taxes.
Having a dishwasher. One of the greatest inventions ever.
More later! (News, not complaints;)

I'm so glad that you made it, and are getting settled! Now you can have your own space. Nice, isn't it?
