You and food.

What does the food you eat say about you? Could someone tell what part of the Country or World you are from? Does your food put you in a class? Does the food you eat say something about your personality?

All interesting questions. I was thinking about it tonight while I was making dinner for me and Anthony. I made this salad.

The inlaws (hello all you out there:), while we were in Texas, were commenting on how differently I eat from the way they do in the South. I guess this goes to show that I really do eat a little differently. Salad, for me, can be a meal all itself, while in other places the salad...well...they might wonder what salad is. I tend to eat more of the farm fresh fruits and veggies because that is what grows around here. That, and we are close to the ocean, amidst lots of farms and ranches, and have a vast array of organic stuff to choose from. Anthony tends to be almost vegetarian so that saves me having to figure out what to do with a big chunk of meat, and he'd rather eat salad anyway. We went to a gathering just recently and all he ate was from the veggie platter. (I swear I didn't do this to him.)

When Kevin came to California he had no idea what an artichoke was, had never tried an avacado, and hated raisins and olives. I have yet to convert him about a few of these things, but at least he's learning some different tastes:) An example of that would be that he is fonder of sushi than I. Not that I hate it, but some of it I just can't get myself to eat. Unagi for one. Blick. I like smoked salmon and will even eat caviar...but I couldn't get past the feel of the Unagi in my mouth. *gag*

By the way, if you are interested in trying this salad it is:

2 roast chicken breasts, chunked
1/4 of a red onion chopped
2-3 Tbl chopped parsley
1 stalk of celerly chopped
10-12 green grapes, cut in half
3 crumbled pieces of cooked bacon
toss everything in a bowl and mix.

For the dressing
about 1/4 mayonnaise
1/2 c sour cream
1/3 c buttermilk
2 Tbl minced fresh herbs
1/4 tsp garlic powder
salt to taste
pepper to taste
Mix everything together in a bowl.

Pour half the dressing on the food in the bowl and combine to coat salad.
I used butter lettuce, but you could serve it over anything. I sliced some avacado and poured a little more dressing over the top of the whole thing. It's yummy. Would be good with garlic bread, I bet.

Man that salad sounds good. My little ones love salad. I think it comes from simply not feeding them crap all the time.

Yup.
I think if you start them out good they just sort of tend to go along with it.
